Another Thanksgiving down the hatch. Lucky for me, with the amount of leftovers we have, I got to relive the dinner today for lunch! It was a nice, low key day for us. We had it back at our place this year. We usually do Thanksgiving but skipped last year when I was pg and had just gotten the crappy results of my triple screen test. Let's just say that I was feeling MUCH better about everything this year! We only had 7 people this year (including Harper). Just me, Brad, Harper, my mom and sister, Alyssa, and Brad's mom. This, too, was fine by me because we still cook the same amount and then I get to feast for days afterwards. I love Thanksgiving food. I mean, when else do you have the excuse to consume mass amounts of butter in everything you cook? My stuffing alone calls for 2 sticks of butter. God, is it good. Anyway, we had the requisite turkey (which is always perfect because we brine it), two kinds of stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn casserole, green beans amandine, my fancy raspberry jello, and buttercup squash. For dessert there was pumpkin pie and german chocolate pie. I was pretty proud of myself for not going overboard. I wanted to keep going back for more food but I controlled myself nicely.
Harper had a fine time eating at the table with us. She had the squash along with some pumpkin (plain) and avocado. I find I make her avocados and orange food a lot. Those are her favorites. When we had dessert, she had an apple in her little mesh feeder. Aside from the fact that she would not take a morning nap, she did really well. It was also nice to have Aly over because she could entertain Harper while we all played 1 to 10. Because she finally napped from 3:30-5:30, Harper didn't wind up going to bed until a little after 8 and then she didn't wind up falling asleep until closer to 9. I knew that wouldn't bode well for the night and I was right, she was up at 4 and then up for the day a little before 7. When she gets to bed earlier, she sleeps better and longer. The good news is that she took a regular nap this morning and is now down for another nap no questions asked. I think just all the hubbub and people yesterday was just much more stimulating than she is used to and she didn't want to miss out on any action!
I haven't even left the house today. I had halfway thought I might try and brave it and go to a few places to check on some deals but I didn't bother. I've never really shopped after Thanksgiving and now that I have Harper, it would probably be more hassle than it's worth. That and the fact that I can't use the sling much now because she is all bulked up in a coat. There was no way I wanted to take a stroller out amongst the masses! So, we've just had a quiet day at home. I wished that Mary had come over but I guess they didn't have time. Oh well.
Here are a few of our first Thanksgiving shots with Harper. I had to put a bow on her because otherwise in that little outfit, she looked too much like a boy!

What's next on Harper's menu???????
Speaking of Black Friday madness, did you guys hear about the man who was trampled to death at a Wal-Mart on Long Island? A pregnant woman also got trampled and had a miscarriage. People are so disgusting.
Those people at the wal-mart took the damn door off the hinges! There is nothing that I need bad enough to fight someone for at 5 am the day after Thanksgiving!
